Police are treating the death of a woman who was discovered lying unconscious in a garden in the Drumbrae area this morning as unexplained.
The woman, who has not been named, was found by officers in a garden in Balfron Loan, after police were called to the address at 7.30am.
An ambulance was called but paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh responded to an address in Balfron Loan at around 7.30am today after a woman was found lying unconscious within a garden.
“She was subsequently pronounced dead by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing and anyone who can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward immediately.
“The woman’s death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”
