Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information to help trace a man reported missing in the Capital.
Alistair Porteous was last seen leaving his home in The Steils, Greenbank at around 2pm on Wednesday 29th Janurary.
The 56-year-old has not been since then and enquiries are underway to establish his whereabouts.
Police in Fort William have since recovered Mr Porteous’ Saab car after finding it parked at the head of Glen Nevis on Saturday morning.
Local officer, mountain rescue teams and the RAF have since been deployed to search the mountain and locate Mr Porteous. However, so far, he is yet to be traced.
Anyone with information that can assist Police Scotland with their investigation is asked to come forward.
Mr Porteous is described as white and is believed to have been wearing black waterproof trousers and jacket, a blue woolly hat and carrying a black and grey rucksack.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We believe Mr Porteous may have taken an unscheduled trip to Fort William to walk the mountain trail at Glen Nevis.
“He is an avid and competent hill walker. However, he did not tell family or friends where he was going and has yet to be traced.
“As such, we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.
“Anyone with information that can help us trace Mr Porteous is asked to contact Police immediately.”
