Two houses in Hutchison Terrace have been badly damaged following a serious fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at 12:24yesterday.

About 40 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze which started in the roof space and quickly spread to other rooms. Eight fire appliances three police vehicles and two ambulances also attended the scene.

Police diverted southbound traffic along Hutchison Road and New Mart Road for several hours.

A spokeswoman said no-one was injured in the blaze.
