Two Edinburgh born footballers are the subject of big money bids during the January transfer window.
Celtic have had a second bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Leigh Griffiths rejected although talks are ongoing.
Last night the Wolves manager Kenny Jackett said: There was more dialogue on Tuesday but it was above me. I was concentrating on the game but I do know they came back in with perhaps another bid.
“The chairman and chief executive handle that side of it and it will be a valuation for someone who is 23, a goal scorer and a full international.”
“Celtic are very interested and their manager is giving him high praise. Leigh has stated publicly he has children in Scotland and that is a big factor.”
Across the city, Rangers have rejected an official bid from Nottingham Forest for former Hearts’ left-back Lee Wallace.
Billy Davies reportedly made the ÂŁ900,000 bid for the 26-year-old Scotland cap on Friday, but Rangers are thought to be holding out for a seven-figure sum thought to be in the region of ÂŁ1.4m.
The Ibrox club’s chief executive, Graham Wallace, recently asked players to consider a 15% wage cut as he looks to drastically cut costs.
