Two men and a woman have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs and Firearms Acts after police in Edinburgh recovered Class A and B drugs, along with a stun gun and an incapacitant spray from three addresses in the south of the city.
The premises were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act warrants as part of the ongoing divisional response to tackling serious and organised crime.
Officers carried out searches at properties in Burnhead Grove, The Murray’s and Gilmerton Dykes Crescent on Monday morning. A total of £3,500 worth of cocaine and cannabis were seized.
The men aged 18 and 26 and the female aged 22 are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Tuesday 31st December).
Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: “As a result of community intelligence we were in a position to search these premises under warrant.
“The searches have resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of drugs along with the items controlled under the Firearms Act. This goes a long way to keeping our communities safe and combating organised crime within the city.
“The public have played a vital role in helping us take drugs off our streets by coming forward and providing us with this information.
“I would urge anyone wishing to report drug crime, or associated offences in their local area to contact us immediately.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
