Luckily for those not quite brave enough the entries have now closed for this year’s event!

The Loony Dook takes place in South Queensferry on 1 January 2014 and is the first local event in the year that the Forth Road Bridge is 50 years old.

Starting with a Dookers Parade through South Queensferry featuring pipers and a host of entertainment the brave, or daft, Loony Dookers will take the chilly plunge for charity under the world renowned Forth Bridge.  For those not brave enough to get their feet wet, there are plenty of vantage points to watch the action and spectators are welcomed. The Loony Dook is funded by Homecoming Scotland and supported by Scotmid and is part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

Councillor Norman Work who represents the Almond Ward is braving the elements for charity. If you would like to support him then his JustGiving page is here.

The festivities will go on for much of the year however with digital scrapbooks to be gathered together and a fireworks display at the end of the Festival.  Further details of all the celebrations here.
