Police in Edinburgh have recovered firearms ammunition as part of ongoing activity to target serious organised crime groups in the Capital.
Officers carried out a search of a property in Saughton Mains Place yesterday (Wednesday) and recovered a number of bullets and shotgun cartridges from the address.
Other items were also seized for further enquiry and police are continuing with their investigation to identify those responsible for possessing the ammunition.
Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: “Information from the public is a vital tool for tackling serious organised crime and recovering illicit materials before they can harm our communities.
“In this instance, intelligence we received resulted in a number of different bullets and cartridges being seized and our enquiries are ongoing to trace anyone linked to this ammunition.
“I would urge members of our communities to continue to come forward with information concerning criminal activity, which will be acted upon in the strictest confidence by police.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
