The council is set to lease the disused toilet block in Roseburn Park to the Friends of Roseburn Park (FoRP) for £1 a year for 25 years.
The plan is that the organisation will then raise £30,000 in grants which will enable them to do up the derelict and unused building to form a community shelter. The Friends will also take over all maintenance liability for the building.
One of the features is to be a new clock on the building which you can see an artist’s impression of by clicking here.
A feasibility study was carried out last year for FoRP by Craig Proudfoot of One Foot Square Architecture & Design which you can read in full below. Craig also provided us with the photos today

The community shelter will have disabled toilet facilities for use by the organisation and other local community groups using the park such as scouts or schools.
The council’s Economy Committee already approved this idea but it needs the ratification of the Finance Committee to go forward. The Finance Committee meets on Thursday 19 September 2013.
