This year’s Scottish Cup Final may have ended in disappointment for Hibs fans, however some good did come from the day, with over £2,000 being raised for the charity ‘Help for Heroes’ thanks to the generosity of the hospitality guests at Hampden.
Hibernian’s Hospitality Manager Amanda Vettese conducted a raffle to raise funds for the worthy cause and various Hibs’ items were donated including hospitality and tickets while Edinburgh boutique bar and restaurant Le Monde donated dinner for two, former captain Ian Murray donated hospitality for a game at Dumbarton and catering partners Azure donated a signed Scotland Six Nations rugby jersey.
The winners included 4 Scots soldier Roddy Watson, who was over for the match from Germany and won two tickets for a 2013/14 Hibernian home match.
Walter Glover, a lifelong 91 year-old Hibs’ supporter, who was over from Australia for the game, and Angus McDonald, a young supporter from Orkney both won signed Hibernian Cup Final shirts.
Acclaimed writer Irvine Welsh, who had travelled over from Chicago, won two Edinburgh Suite passes for a Hibernian home match for the 13/14 season.
Help for Heroes is a charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain’s current conflicts and for soldiers who suffer life-changing injuries in the line of duty.
Amanda said:- “The club is a long-term supporter of Help for Heroes and every season we also donate complimentary tickets for 1 Scots and Third Rifles.
“The raffle was a great success and thanks to everybody who entered and special thanks to all the generous friends of Hibernian who donated prizes.”
