Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a high-value mountain bike.

The incident happened around 4.30am on Monday 16th April at an address in Newhaven Road.

A property in the street was broken into and the 36-gear ISSAC hard tail bike worth £3,000 was stolen from inside.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

The bike is described as black, with an 18-inch frame, DT Swiss 240 silver-rimmed wheels, white forks, Continental mud tyres, Shimano XTR break discs, Bon Trager carbon stem and a triple Physic Gobbie saddle.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Given the time at which this incident occurred, a number of residents in Newhaven Road may have been awoken by sounds of a disturbance, as those responsible gained entry to the property.

“Similarly, members of the public who were up and out in the area in the early hours of Monday morning may also have seen something suspicious and are asked to contact police immediately if they have information that can assist officers with their investigation.”

Today a shameless little plug for community transport service, Dove Transport which calls itself  “the number one community transport provider in the West of Edinburgh.”

Dove Transport seeks to provide affordable and accessible community transport to local not-for-profit community organisations within the West of Edinburgh and surrounds.

The service was established in April 2003 as part of an Urban Community Transport Initiative pilot scheme set up by the Scottish Executive. There are four partners involved in the scheme who provide community transport throughout Edinburgh. We are currently in our fifth year of funding and the project continues to thrive.

Our current fleet consists of three minibuses – two 15-seaters and one 7-seater – all of which are fully accessible. These buses are available for day or evening hires, seven days a week, with or without a driver. Please note that we cannot hire to individuals. All hires are subject to availability.

You can find out more about how to book your minibus here.
