TERLive! with Lothian and Borders Police – n0tice #myhighstreet project – Edinburgh’s slogans – Felix’s jump in Lego – Gary Barlow

Tonight at 5.30p.m. we are running another of our popular live blogs with officers from Lothian and Borders Police. This time we have Superintendent Bryan Rodgers in the hot seat. Superintendent Rodgers is based at Craigmillar Police Station and is responsible for the South and East of the city. Join us for the chat on our TERLive! Section here at 5.30 p.m. or join in on Twitter by using the hashtag #askLBP

The new n0tice is here! And we need your help to put Edinburgh on the map!

n0tice 2.0 beta was launched yesterday afternoon. This is a platform from The Guardian that aims to replicate the village noticeboard, a place where people come together to share news and events, inspire, change, and meet new people. We have our own n0tice board here.

To celebrate the new and improved n0tice the developers are conducting a photographic study of the UK’s high streets. (By ‘high street’ they really mean communities) They want people involved to take pictures of the things on their ‘high street’ they want to either #Celebrate or #Change – whether that’s the brilliant local butcher or the poor state of the pavement.  They will take these photographs and use them to produce a live infographic – showing everyone the state of the ‘high street’ all over the UK. They hope we can all start a wider debate about the things that are important to us and the things that affect our local communities.

To get started, they are working with community leaders in Edinburgh, (that is us!!)  Cardiff, Leeds and Brighton – and they are  hoping that you will get involved too.

How You Can Help

1. Take a peek at the site

Take a look at the campaign site http://highstreet.n0tice.com/ and see what people are celebrating or want to change.

2. Start taking pictures

We’d love you to take pictures of things you want to Celebrate or Change in your local high street. All you’ll need to do is share the image on Twitter, Instagram or n0tice and include the hashtag #myhighstreet and whether it’s something you want to #celebrate or #change. These photos will be used in the production of the infographic.

We also wrote about this yesterday and you can read that article here.

On a separate note there is a lot of buzz about the £300,000 campaign to give Edinburgh a new slogan. The Edinburgh Evening News has a good resume of the various offerings of alternatives from the city’s Twitterati, but asks whether the city really needs a slogan or not?

Possibly a huge majority of Edinburgh residents watched a clip of Felix Baumgartner skydiving back to Earth from a capsule on the edge of space. But you must see this Lego version!   (and no it really does not have anything to do with Edinburgh but we think it is great!)

The List reports that Gary Barlow is playing  in Edinburgh in November. Edinburgh Playhouse will welcome Gary as part of his solo tour on 21 November 2012. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
