Hibernian Women head coach Grant Scott insists his side must immediately respond to yesterday’s Edinburgh Derby defeat to Hearts.
A second half comeback from the visitors nullified Kathleen McGovern’s early opener and sealed all three points for the Gorgie club.
In the second-half Hibs failed to capitalise on a number of clear-cut chances and struggled to withhold the direct Hearts attack.
“It was a tough one,” Scott admitted. “Disappointment, obviously, is the instant emotion.
“Not with the players. I thought they equipped themselves really well, they maybe just rue the half chances that we didn’t take.
“I thought we were fairly dominant that first half. Obviously had a wee bit of the wind behind us, and probably should have done a little bit better with the territory and position we had.
“But having said that, second half, we had a crazy 15-20 minutes.
“We couldn’t get out of our own area and lost a couple of bad goals. We need to look back at those, there were a couple of errors in there, I think. These things happen and that’s the small margins we’re working to now.
“Hearts have done the job on us today and credit to them. But we’ll bounce back.”
A midweek trip to New Douglas Park to take on fourth-place Celtic awaits Hibernian.
Glasgow City now lead the league standings on goal difference, and Scott understands an improved performance against Elena Sadiku’s dangerous side is crucial ahead of the season’s impending end.
“It’s a must [that we respond versus Celtic]. I think it’s a tough opponent once again.
“Celtic are fighting away for things and keeping themselves involved in this race. It’s not going to be an easy one.
“But it gives us no time to wallow in what’s happened today. We need to look back at it and take the notes that we can from it. We have to look to bounce back on Wednesday.”
