Cab Direct Championship: Berwick Jewson Bandits 43, Glasgow Allied Vehicles Tigers 47
Glasgow Tigers team manager Cami Brown (pictured) wants his side to kick on after a road win at Berwick Jewson Bandits, the defending league champions came from six points down to earn a 47-43 victory at Shielfield Park. The win also secured the aggregate bonus point.
Steve Worrall won the last heat decider after Chris Harris was excluded following a heavy fall for Berwick’s Drew Kemp and Brown said: “It’s a great result for the club and the fans. The boys fought really hard.”
He claimed the decision to exclude Harris in Heat 15 was “very poor” but added: “Steve (Worrall) was the coolest man in the stadium to win the decider and that’s all that counts. Chris (Harris) was outstanding all night and didn’t deserve for his meeting to end like that.”
Brown gave a special mention for Paul Starke who rode through the pain barrier. He was injured in the Heat 8 crash at Ashfield on Friday when Berwick were the visitors, but he didn’t want to let the team down.
The team boss added: “It’s a vital win for us. Our season needs to kick start from this point on. Chris, Steve and Leon Flint were excellent a and Jack Smith was once again the hero with another brilliant win in Heat 14.
“We still have to improve. but that was our best performance of the season. Our top three were so solid and, when they all perform like that, we can be a match for anyone.”
