Hibs Women have announced the signing of 21-year-old striker Kathleen McGovern on a two-year deal with the Club.
McGovern spent the previous season at Edinburgh rivals Hearts, playing 19 games across the 2023/24 SWPL season, scoring 11 goals.
She has also earned a handful of youth caps for Scotland across various age levels.
Most recently, she played alongside Tegan Bowie and scored for Scotland U23’s in their 3-1 victory against Denmark earlier this month.
McGovern started her professional career at Celtic and was part of the Hoops side that lifted the 2021/22 SWPL Cup.
She then moved to SC Sand in the Frauen Bundesliga in January 2022, before arriving back in Scotland.
She will wear the number 10 shirt.
On her arrival at Hibernian, McGovern said: “I am delighted to be signing for Hibs. As soon as I spoke to Grant, I knew the correct decision for me was to come here. He was really positive about the ambition and where the club is going, which is something that I want to be a part of.”
Grant Scott was also pleased to welcome Kathleen to the club: “We’re excited to welcome Kathleen to Hibernian, I’ve followed the progress of her career following her breakthrough season at Celtic and admiring her play since then.
Her talent and forward-thinking play will be a great asset to the team moving forward. We look forward to seeing her linking up with our other forward players and contributing to our success in the seasons to come.”
