The Veterans’ charity Erskine is taking its annual Art exhibition online this year. Not wishing to disappoint the many supporters who look forward to the event every year the charity has created a month long virtual show which can be enjoyed from the comfort of home.
The Art for Erskine Online Auction and Sale runs till Thursday 27th August. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions this year’s annual Art Exhibition will be offering a wide selection of contemporary artwork online available to buy. Every sale will help raise vital funds towards the care of Veterans in Erskine’s four care homes. Artists include Graham McKean, Elaine Johnston, James Dinnen and many more.
Featured artist Graham McKean says; ‘’I am proud to support Erskine in any way I can. My grandfather Hugh McKean was himself rescued from the beaches of Dunkirk during the WW2 and towards the end of the war he went on to be part of the first British troops to liberate Bergen Belsen concentration camp in Germany. I will always have the utmost respect for the part service men and women play in conflicts past and present.’’
In addition to the artwork for sale, there will be fascinating spotlight features charting the history of Erskine Hospital. By delving into the past, and in particular the Erskine archives, being showcased will be Veteran’s drawings; poetry and notes, including excerpts from the ‘Erskine Bugle’ newsletter written by patients at the hospital.
Erskine’s Events Manager Jennifer Campbell said: “Due to Covid-19 we are delighted to bring our long running Art for Erskine event to you virtually! Join us as we exhibit wonderful artwork and celebrate Erskine’s history with our Art for Erskine Online Auction and Sale. This is a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of art and help Erskine raise vital funds for our Veterans. We are extremely grateful to our exhibiting artists for their support.”
