Three fundraisers, Neil Winstanley (37) from Ayr, Stuart Kennedy (35) from Fife and Witold Gawlikowicz (30) from Warsaw are undertaking The Stevenson Way next month.

They will walk the 270 miles across Scotland from Erraid a tidal island off Mull to Edinburgh, to raise funds for CHAS Childrens’ Hospices Across Scotland. They are also undertaking the challenge in memory of their beloved friend Dougie Walker who was tragically killed in February of this year.

Dougie had been planning to do the walk with his friends and now they are running, hiking and crawling the 270 miles in his memory and for a charity which was close to his heart. He took every opportunity of being out in the open and loved reading, so this challenge will be a fitting tribute to him.

They will be sleeping rough and carrying all their own equipment in a retrace of the route taken in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Kidnapped. It took the characters in the book two months and these three adventurers hope to do it in a week.

They aim to end their walk in Corstorphine on 7 September at 2.00pm so perhaps you will be able to give them a warm Edinburgh welcome on their return!

You can donate on JustGiving here.
