The management of Lothian the city’s bus company have decided to cancel the planned centenary cavalcade of buses which was due to take place tomorrow.
This decision has been taken in light of the proposed strike action by bus drivers and engineers which will start on Friday at 3.00am unless agreement can be made between the employees and the company.
A ballot yesterday confirmed that the members of Unite the union want to proceed with industrial action. The dispute is long running and is not only about pay. Bosses at Lothian offered 2.7% increase but there are also allegations of a bullying culture at the company.
Due to current circumstances we have taken the difficult decision to postpone tomorrow’s Centenary Cavalcade.
