The Tweed Trophy is awarded to the fisherman who catches the first spring salmon of the season on the river.

Photographic evidence of the catch must be provided along with one other witness.

Fin and Game of Kelso are co-ordinating the catch returns and either email tom@finandgame.com or call 01573 224066 or text message: 07545036877.

Once the catch has been confirmed the presentation of The Tweed Trophy made by Jason Sweeny from hand-beaten stainless steel will be arranged.

The date, name of the rod, boatman and beat are engraved on the trophy and this is a local tradition which started in 2007.

The opening fishing day is Friday, February 1 and the successful winner will also be presented with a goodie bag from event sponsors Fin and Game.
