A police investigation is underway after a man was left in a serious condition following an “altercation” in West Richmond Street which took place around 2am on Sunday morning.

The injured man is currently being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary whilst detectives  appeal for witnesses.

Police Scotland Detective Inspector Bob Campbell said: “As part of the ongoing enquiry we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around this time and may have witnessed the incident.”
