MANNA HOUSE NUMBER TWO CRUISES TO A FANTASTIC FIRST SUMMER OF TRADING

With around two cruise ships coming in and around South Queensferry every week in the summer months, Manna House Bakery, which set up its second outlet in South Queensferry’s High Street last autumn, has reported a very successful first summer in this new location.

Already a well known name in Easter Road in the Capital for the last fourteen years, the artisan bakery, patisserie and deli café, was keen to expand. An outlet becoming available in South Queensferry, just over the road from Master Baker and Proprietor Drew Massie’s own home, provided the perfect opportunity to set up that all important second shop.

“We’re really happy to report a very good first summer of trading here in South Queensferry,” said Drew Massie, a third generation baker who has secured a number of top food awards for Manna House Bakery. “South Queensferry is certainly a very competitive and busy location with several other very successful bakeries, cake shops and cafes in existence, along with popular hotel and chain restaurants.”

“We’ve held our own here though and built up a very strong core of local customers coming in for breakfast and lunch each day, and have proved popular with daytrippers and tourists, helped in no small way by the increased cruise trade,” he added.

“Scones have become our best sellers – it’s a completely different customer demographic to Easter Road – and we sell out of them every day!”

Having opened last September, Manna House South Queensferry basically had to wait a whole year to experience a summer trading period.

“And what a summer it was, blessed with phenomenal weather!” said Drew. “We know this will have helped us sell picnic food and all of that, but we certainly won’t be resting on our laurels as we move into Autumn and Winter.”

“As a destination, South Queensferry is fairly busy all year, but we will be thinking up fantastic new flavour combinations for warming soups and winter salads, cakes and pastries, and our patisserie products are ideal for party food canapes over the festive period,” said Drew.

Drew covers both locations, with the assistance of his two Managers, Sam and Jessica, but admits that having his home so close to the South Queensferry shop is very handy: “I can pop home for forty winks after a busy morning baking!” he says.

Manna House Bakery is at 45-46 High Street, South Queensferry and 22-24 Easter Road.
