Kevin Doolan collected eight points with a win, two second places and a third in four outings on his last visit to Armadale with Berwick Bandits.

That was on September 14 when the Borders side edged Monarchs 48-42 in the SGB Championship.

Doolan will guest for Workington Comets in Friday’s (7.30pm) Knockout Cup semi-final at Edinburgh Monarchs.

The 37-year-old Australian rider stands-in for crocked Dan Bewley and Sheffield-based James Sarjeant (Glasgow Tigers) guests for Monarchs in place of Joel Anderson who is recovering from breaking two bones in his foot earlier this month.

Edinburgh have beaten Glasgow Tigers and Berwick on their way to the final four.
But in-form Comets are on a high as they have qualified for the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs and the Championship Shield.

This is Monarchs’ last chance to earn a national trophy this season.

And Workington beat Monarchs home and away in the Championship Shield.
In the recent league matches, Monarchs won by 40 at home and only went down by six in Cumbria.

Alex Harkess, Monarchs’ co-promoter, said: “We want to take a good lead to Workington for the return on Saturday. If we don’t do so well (at home) and go with a small lead then we may struggle.”
