Craig Cook made an impressive debut for success-hungry Glasgow Tigers but his big haul failed to secure a valuable road win for the ambitious Scottish club.

The former Edinburgh Monarchs skipper moved to the West of Scotland club to get more rides.

And he powered to 14 points at Scunthorpe Scorpions, winning four of his six races, after retiring in his first and coming second in his next.

The Cumbrian-based racer had only hours before enjoyed a good night at the Speedway Grand Prix, Round 5, in Cardiff.

Cook finished with nine points after winning three of his five races and his haul put in seventh position on the night and ahead of Russian superstar Emil Sayfutdinov, who scored eight points, and Aussie ace Chris Holder on seven points.

Glasgow lost 46-44 at Scunthorpe, earning a point, but they were desperately seeking a road win to boost their play-off hopes.

And they earned a chance of a victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway after Cook won Heat 13 with experienced former Grand Prix racer

Chris Harris in second place for a 5-1 over Josh Auty and former Monarchs racer Steve Worrall who is making his comeback after a leg break.

A 3-3 in Heat 14 set up a final showdown. Cook won the heat but Harris fell leaving the heat level on 3-3 for a 46-44 scoreline.
