Hibs’ striker Simon Murray has now completed the paperwork on a permanent transfer to Bidvest Wits of the South African Premier Division for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old joined Hibs last summer and scored 14 goals for the club, including a memorable winner in the Edinburgh Derby against Hearts and a strike against Rangers at Ibrox.
His father Gary Murray also played for the club in the early 1880s.
He quickly became a fans’ favourite due to his 100% effort and the supporters even composed their own song for him based on the Good Charlotte song, ‘Girls don’t like boys, girls like cars and money.”
Murray’s form dipped as the season progressed a and he spent the second half of the season on loan at Dundee.
Neil Lennon replaced the front two of Murray and Anthony Stokes during the January transfer window with Jamie MacLaren and Florian Kamberi.
A Hibs’ spokesperson said: “We would like to wish Simon well with his future career and thank him for his efforts at the club.”
