Edinburgh Monarchs racer Ricky Wells has been named in the line-up for the season-launching Cumberland Open Championship on March 31.

Josh Grajczonek and Kyle Howarth, who have all held heat-leader berths at Derwent Park in the recent past, are also expected to pose a strong challenge to the Comets’ regulars.

Owner Laura Morgan said: “We feel we have put together a very attractive field for this year’s Cumberland Open, which we believe will get our season underway in fine style and provide some very competitive track action with quality riders in every race.

“We are all very much looking forward to the new season and this meeting will provide a stern test for our own riders before Glasgow come to town the following week in our first home team fixture.”
