Neil Lennon has described the reaction to his goal celebration at Ibrox as ‘over the top’.

The Hibs’ Head Coach turned to the Rangers fans and cupped his ears before making a gesture after Simon Murray scored Hibs’ equalising goal on Saturday.

The incident sparked fury amongst the Rangers supporters, several of whom made complaints to Police Scotland.

After consultation with the Procurator Fiscal, officers decided that no crime had been committed but it is understood that the football authorities are still considering the matter.

Hibs won the game 3-2 and now sit joint top of the table with six points from their opening two games.

Earlier today Lennon told Sky Sports News: ” It was completely over the top. I said at the time and I don’t change my view that I was celebrating a goal and that should be the end of it.

“Of course in Scotland when it comes to me at Ibrox it gets blown out of proportion.

“It takes away from what was a brilliant win for us and a brilliant performance form the team.

“It made front page news and I don’t think it warrants that.

“Anyway we move on. the police felt that there was no criminal charges which I tend to agree with.

“The SFA are still pouring over it and we will have to see what the outcome becomes so I can’t really comment on that side of things.”

Hibs face Hamilton at Easter Road on Saturday looking to extend their 100% start to the season.
