Edinburgh’s favourite TV personality, Phil MacHugh was on hand yesterday to show Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker from NBC’s TODAY show around the capital. (and yes he did make them eat a deep-fried Mars bar….)
TODAY’s Sheinelle Jones and NBC News correspondent Keir Simmons have been exploring Scottish culture with two live broasdcasts that take in the sights from across central Scotland.
Phil said,”I had a call from NBC last week to see if I would be available to host Al and Sheinelle during their visit to the Scottish Capital and of course I jumped at the chance! We had a brilliant day of filming- eating deep fried mars bar, drinking whisky cocktails and teaching them the highland fling! The TODAY SHOW is massive in the US and I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to host this segment of the show for the US channel”.
The show which aired at 0900 today in the US also featured ‘The Red Hot Chilli Pipers’ and the US hosts tried their hand at everything from Falconry to Archery at the 1’200-acre estate.
It is said that the heartbeat of Scotland lies within the capital of Edinburgh, a city of roughly half a million people that earns its reputation as one of the most picturesque cities in the world. You can see what the threesome got up to here :
