Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Newtongrange last night.
The assault happened in Lady Road Place around 8.30pm when a 29-year-old man was approached by a group of youths and one of them struck him to the face. He required hospital treatment for his injury.
The suspect who struck the man is described as around 15-years-old, around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and wearing a black top with the hood up.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who may have information that can assist them in tracing the suspect.
Similarly anyone who saw a group of youths gathered outside the shop on Gardener Crescent around 8pm last night to get in touch.
Detective Constable Ian McCandlish of Dalkeith CID said: “This unprovoked attack left the injured man requiring hospital treatment and we are keen to trace the individual concerned.
“Anyone who was in the vicinity of Lady Road Place or Gardener Crescent in Newtongrange around 8pm last night is asked to get in touch.”
