Elite League; Braehead Clan 5, Fife Flyers 2; Coventry Blaze 4, Edinburgh Capitals 1; Manchester Storm 4, Dundee Stars 2.

Edinburgh Capitals, who prop up the Elite League table, opened the scoring at Coventry Blaze through Taylor MacDougall after eight minutes.

And it took the Midlands club until the 32nd minute to level from Barry Almeida before three, third-period strikes secured the points, Jordan Pietrus, Liam Stewart and James Jorgensen netting.

Elsewhere, Mike Hammond claimed a third period double to lift Braehead Clan above their opponents Fife Flyers into fourth place in the ten-strong Elite League.

The 5-2 victory over their in-form, Kirkcaldy-based rivals secured Braehead’s third straight win.

Fife, who had won their previous three games, were 3-0 down to goals from Lee Baldwin, Alex Leavitt and Cody Carlson after 29 minutes before responding.

Seb Thinel and Caro Finucci made it 3-2 seven minutes later but up stepped Hammond with two third-period goals to settle the issue.

Dundee Stars misery continued with a 4-2 defeat at Manchester Storm despite going ahead through a Joey Sides power play strike after seven minutes.

Ex-Stars defenceman Paul Swindlehurst levelled three minutes later and then Storm hit the opposition with a power play strike from Mario Valery-Trabucco and a third from Adam Harding.

Sides pulled one back as Storm hit penalty problems after 41 minutes but Darian Dziurzynski wrapped things up with a fourth less than six minutes from time to send Stars to their third straight defeat.
