Two people have been charged with drugs offences following enforcment activity in Tranent.

Officers from the East Lothian Community Action Team carried out an intelligence-led search of a property in Well Wynd on Tuesday 13th December and recovered £1,200 worth of cannabis from within.

Around £1,200 in cash and other items associated with drugs supply were also recovered from the address.

A 29-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were detained and subsequently charged with drug offences.

They were scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday 14th December.

Inspector Andrew Harborow from Tranent Police Station said, “Once again, information from the local community has helped us recover harmful drugs before they could make their way onto our streets.

“Intelligence is vital in helping us tackle drug crime and I would urge anyone with information relating to ongoing offences in their area to contact us immediately, or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
