Edinburgh Leisure’s Looked After and Active programme offers free access to their facilities for certain children in the city who most need it. This scheme was started in 2012 when Edinburgh Leisure got funding of £590,000 for this and other  programmes to increase physical activity among certain groups.

The hope is that physical activity will improve the lives of children and young people in care, and so far the programme has helped over 1,300 children and young people in care to get active and play.  The project teaches new skills, builds confidence and allows the young people to enjoy active healthy childhoods.
