Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Dunbar which took place between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday 2 July in West Port.
A 48-year-old man was walking along the footpath when two men approached him. He was then struck to the back of the head and fell to the ground where he was attacked.
One of the suspects is described as white, aged 20-30 years old, 5ft 9-10inches tall, with a slight build and a gaunt face.
He was wearing a dark hoodie with a full-length zip and the hood up, and a grey t-shirt underneath.
The second man was described as white, aged 20-30, with a medium build and wearing white trousers.
The men were last seen heading towards the High Street.
The victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with a serious, but non-life threatening, head injury.
Detective Constable Jordan Sharp of Dalkeith CID said: “We’ve been conducting numerous enquiries since this incident in an effort to trace the perpetrators.
“We’ve now established that a white vehicle may have been forced to stop due to the attack, and we would urge the driver to come forward.
“Anyone else who may have witnessed this, or who recognises the description of the suspects, is also asked to get in touch.”
