Joanna Cherry QC MP asked a question during the Prime Minister’s EU Referendum Statement which took place at Westminster earlier this afternoon.
The SNP MSP for Edinburgh South West asked: “Thousands of my Edinburgh South West constituents are employed in Edinburgh’s financial sector which is the second biggest in the UK.
“Can the Prime Minister give me his assurance that the UK Government will work with the Scottish Government to make sure that my constituents jobs don’t face a similar threat to those of people in the City of London where it is estimated up to 70,000 jobs could go abroad in the next 12 months?”
The Prime Minister responded to say that he could certainly give that assurance and that he will work with Holyrood to protect Scottish financial sector jobs.
