Police are appealing for information following a housebreaking and theft in Newtongrange which took place between 10.30pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday morning.

Entry was forced to the rear of a property on McGahey Court and car keys were stolen from the house, which were used to take a teal blue 62-plate Nissan Juke from the property. A three-figure sum of money was also stolen from within.

PC Scott Clark of the Community Investigation Unit said: “Anyone who has seen a vehicle matching this description which may be the stolen Juke is urged to get in touch.

“Likewise, anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the Newtongrange area during this time period is asked to make contact.
