A man who was found storing firearms within an Edinburgh flat during a policing operation to tackle serious and organised crime has been jailed.
On the 9th September 2015, officers executed a number of drug warrants to target a crime group working within the North of the city.
During searches of properties in Colonsay View two handguns, a shotgun and ammunition were recovered along with £50,000 in cash.
Jamie Davie was subsequently arrested and charged and appeared at Glasgow High Court on Wednesday 13th January where he pled guilty to firearms offences.
The 27-year-old was sentenced to five years in prison.
Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien from the Proactive Unit at Gayfield Police Station said: “Everyday we gather new intelligence on those involved in serious and organised crime and utilise this to carry out enforcement activity across the city.
“September’s raids in Colonsay View resulted in the recovery of a number of viable firearms and ammunition and demonstrated Jamie Davie’s involvement in an Edinburgh crime group.
“His sentence should send a very clear message to others involved in organised crime that Edinburgh is no safe haven for criminals. By working alongside our partners in the Crown Office and our local communities we are committed to actively pursuing offenders and removing them from our streets.”
