Baubles Leading children’s charity Action for Children has partnered with Fort Kinnaird Retail Park brands for less homeware retailer, HomeSense, on a Christmas campaign to raise funds for Gilmerton Road Short Breaks Service.

Customers at HomeSense Fort Kinnaird are able to buy a Christmas bauble for £1, on which they can write a festive message or their happiest childhood Christmas memory before hanging it on a special HomeSense Christmas tree in the store.

All proceeds from the bauble donations will go to Action for Children Scotland’s Gilmerton Road service which provides short breaks for families of children and young people with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviour.

Lesley Gordon, Children’s Services manager at Gilmerton Road, said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with the HomeSense ‘Hang a bauble’ initiative. The money raised will allow us to create even more opportunities for disabled children and young people to have fun, gain independence, learn and develop while their families get to take a much needed break.”

image002-1Sarah Cook, director of fundraising at Action for Children, said: “Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for vulnerable children, young people and their families. This is why for the past six years we’ve been delivering our ‘Hang a Bauble’ campaign in partnership with HomeSense, raising funds for our services in communities up and down the country.

“Last year the campaign raised more than £150,000 for our family support, children’s centre, disability and fostering and adoption services. We’re so grateful for the incredible support shown by HomeSense stores and customers, which helps us to reach more and more vulnerable people across the UK each year.”

HomeSense treeSuzanne Inch, head of retail for HomeSense, said; “At HomeSense, we believe in supporting our local communities and helping vulnerable children achieve their potential. With each of our 39 HomeSense stores raising money for local Action for Children services, it means the money our customers give is re-invested in the area. HomeSense is part of TJX Europe which has had a long-standing relationship with Action for Children, supporting the charity for over a decade.
