A man has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Edinburgh recovered a cannabis cultivation estimated to be worth about £30,000.
Officers carried out a search of an address in Southhouse Square yesterday where they found over 200 plants together with quantities of herbal cannabis and diamorphine.
The 48-year-old was scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien from the Proactive Unit at Gayfield Police Station said: “This is a sizeable drugs recovery with a potential value of tens of thousands of pounds and we are delighted to have seized these substances before they could reach our communities.
“We are committed to tackling drug crime in Edinburgh and bringing those involved in their production and supply to justice.
“If you have any information relating to crimes of this nature in your local area then please call us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
