Hibs’ midfielder John McGinn scored a contender for ‘Goal of the Season’ with a sensational 25 yard strike which flew into the top corner of the net with Raith Rovers’ keeper Kevin Cuthbert rooted to the spot, but the summer signing refuses to take all the credit.

Speaking to Cliff pike from Hibs’ TV immediately after the game, McGinn joked: “It was a fluke. No, I’ve been working with Taff (Andy Holden) at training and he has been telling me that I have that in my locker so the credit for the goal goes to him.

“I’m chuffed, but I’m more chuffed that we got the win. It was a really important week for us and hopefully we can use the nine points that we have gained to go into next week. “(Against Rangers),

Hibs went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead but Rovers fought back and bombarded the Hibs defence in an effort to grab a point but the collective spirit of the players ensured the victory.

he continued: “That’s what’s going to happen in this league and we are prepared for it.

“We have big guys at the back that are willing to deal with it and guys at the other end that are going to put it in the back of the net so it bodes well for the future.”

McGinn has become a favourite amongst the Hibs supporters following his move from St Mirren and the Scotland Under 21 captain is enjoying his time in the east. He said: “I’m loving it at Hibs and really enjoying my football. It’s nice when you are winning all the time . It helps and this is a great club to be with and long may it continue.

“We can’t look too far ahead and just have to look to the next game.”
