UPDATE 10.45
NATS STATEMENT: 10:45 MONDAY 26TH OCTOBER
We apologise to passengers inconvenienced by the technical problem at the Scottish air traffic control centre in Prestwick.
The situation is continuing to improve and delays are reducing, however we recognise there are currently knock on delays as a result of airspace capacity restrictions in place earlier in the day.
We currently expect to meet demand for the number of flights planned for the rest of the day without creating any additional delay. We are also doing everything we can to safeguard the evening rush hour.
Passengers are advised to contact their airline to confirm the status of their flight.
All flights in and out of Edinburgh Airport will be subject to delay this morning.
Air traffic control body NATS have issued the following statement:
We have had a technical problem overnight with interference on some radio frequencies that we use to speak to aircraft.
It only affects part of Scottish airspace and flights to and from some Scottish and Northern Irish airports this morning may be delayed as a result.
We have managed to reduce the forecast delays significantly and we are now working on bringing service levels back to normal as soon as possible.
We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience.
Passengers are advised to contact their airline to confirm the status of their flight.
