Last night the Virgin Money Fireworks display took place in the city centre, marking the end of Edinburgh International and Fringe Festival. The event was watched by 250,000 people across the various viewing areas throughout the city.
20,000 people were present in Princes Street and a further 14,000 attended the concert within Princes Street Gardens.
Police Scotland deployed officers in support of the event organiser and the event passed without incident.
Supt. Phil O’Kane said: “The fireworks were enjoyed by many thousands of people across the city and I would like to thank everyone who attended and helped to bring a very fitting conclusion to the Festival.
“During August, Edinburgh has seen an unprecedented number of people attend the city to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Police Scotland has worked with all the relevant partner agencies to keep people safe and ensure they have been able to enjoy the world’s largest and most diverse arts festival.”
