Police are appealing for information following an incident of serious domestic abuse on Whitehill Road near Fort Kinnaird.

On Thursday (Apr 2) a 21-year-old woman was assaulted as she sat in the passenger seat of a black three-door Vauxhall Corsa.

The attack was carried out by the 30-year-old driver after he stopped his car on Whitehill Road at around 10:30pm.

The woman managed to struggle free and exit the vehicle before alerting police.

Officers are very keen to hear from a driver of another vehicle, which passed as the attack took place and heading in the direction of Fort Kinnaird.

DI Dougie Moran from Police Scotland Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit stated: “The victim was extremely traumatised by the incident, which resulted in her running from the car after a passing vehicles headlights allowed her to escape.

“The driver of this vehicle may not be aware that their presence helped, but the enquiry team are keen to speak to them as they may hold crucial evidence, which will help trace the perpetrator.”

Police Scotland will not tolerate domestic abuse and will fully investigate all reports made to them.

Anybody with any information is asked to contact police immediately on 101 and quote the police incident number 3423 – 2nd April 2014.
