Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A90 just north of Cramond this morning at around 3:15am.
A 50-year-old man who it is understood had been walking on the northbound carriageway was involved in a collision with a blue Volkswagen Touran.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he remains in a serious condition.
Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision are ongoing and anyone with any relevant information is asked to come forward.
Sergeant Roger Park of the Police Scotland Trunk Road Patrol Group said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and who believes that they may have witnessed the incident or indeed have any relevant information to contact the police on 101.”
