The Council’s Development Management Committee meets this morning. It is recommended to the council that they grant permission to the Sainsbury’s store at 7 Shrub Place just off Leith Walk to allow Sunday deliveries between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Surprisingly although the community council received notification of the proposal and there was advertising of the application on 19 December 2014 there have been no objections.

In fact it is not quite correct to say that the permission is granted only to Sainsbury’s as it will cover all five of the commercial units currently being built here. The former Shrubhill House was demolished and the new building is under construction. Our photo shows it some months back when it was but a shell. The rest of the building will be used as student accommodation.
