Police in Livingston are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian.

The collision happened around 5.30pm yesterday evening (Friday) on Almondvale Road Road, Livingston.

A 49 year old woman alighted from a bus and was crossing the road when she was struck by a Volkswagen car.

The woman received serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where she is in a critical condition.

The road was closed for six hours while road traffic police carried out an investigation.

Sergeant Neil Inglis said: “We are urgently seeking witnesses to this road traffic collision and anyone who was on Almondvale Road around 5.30pm, which would have been a busy time, is urged to contact police.”
