Free rides at Edinburgh’s Christmas today
Update from the Causey
Edinburgh’s Christmas is allowing 450 people to get on their rides for free today provided that you pitch up at the ticket office with at least two non-perishable food items which will be donated to the Trussell Trust for one of their foodbanks.
A design team from Ironside Farrar has been appointed jointly by CDT and the City of Edinburgh Council. The role of the team is to develop a plan for The Causey based on the community’s aspirations and ideas, with a final design expected in early 2015. The design team, reporting back to CDT, has already done a large amount of background research on the various issues impinging on the design for The Causey, including understanding the needs of the churches and local businesses, the requirements for waste bins, recycling, bin lorry access, bus stops and parking. Foremost in the team’s mind is how to accommodate all these with the needs of pedestrians and cyclists AND make The Causey a great place for people, which of course is the primary aim of the project.
