The Causey is the little triangle of concrete in the middle of a larger area between the buildings at East Crosscauseway. It is a place for which people have many dreams and hopes. Eventually things seem to be really taking shape after a few years of hard work on the part of the Causey Development Trust (CDT). This is their update:

A design team from Ironside Farrar has been appointed jointly by CDT and the City of Edinburgh Council. The role of the team is to develop a plan for The Causey based on the community’s aspirations and ideas, with a final design expected in early 2015.

The design team, reporting back to CDT, has already done a large amount of background research on the various issues impinging on the design for The Causey, including understanding the needs of the churches and local businesses, the requirements for waste bins, recycling, bin lorry access, bus stops and parking. Foremost in the team’s mind is how to accommodate all these with the needs of pedestrians and cyclists AND make The Causey a great place for people, which of course is the primary aim of the project.

Steering Group Meetings

CDT’s steering group meetings are open to all. The next one, at the Southside Community Centre, Nicolson Street, is at 7 pm on Monday 26 January 2015
