Two people have appeared in court following the recovery of £38,000 worth of Class A drugs following the search of three houses in Edinburgh earlier this week.
As a result of an intelligence-led operation, three houses were searched in the Saughton Mains Terrace and Forrester Park Drive areas of Edinburgh and a further house in Loanhead was also searched. These operations resulted in £38,000 worth of diamorphine and other drugs being recovered along with a significant sum of money.
A 44-year-old woman was remanded in custody, while a 43-year-old man was released on bail to appear at a later date when they appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 June 2014) on charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness, who led the raids, said: ‘This is a significant recovery of Class A drugs which was intended for distribution within the community. The recent recoveries with the city demonstrates the commitment by Police Scotland in relation to stamping down on Serious and Organised Crime.
“We will continue to actively target those involved and I would appeal to the public to work with us in that regard.
