Police are appealing for witnesses and issuing a health warning to the public following a break-in and theft from a dental practice which took place overnight between Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th April at the MJP Midgely premises in Bruntsfield Place.
Several cartridges of local anaesthetic were stolen and police are keen to speak with anyone who can assist with their ongoing investigation.
In addition, officers are urging the public not to consume the anaesthetic, as it could have implications for their health.
Constable Chris Stewart said: “As part of our enquiries we would like to speak with anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around the dental practice between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
“Similarly, anyone with other information relevant to this investigation is also asked to come forward.
“The anaesthetic can irritate the skin, cause damage to the eyes and result in numbness to exposed areas and should only ever be administered by a dentist or medical practitioner. If you come into possession of this medication, you should hand it in to your local police station.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
