Rosdeep Adekoya, the mother of Mikaeel Kular, has today appeared under her married name in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
The 33 year-old was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The accused made no plea or declaration and she was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.
It is anticipated that the next time she appears in court, which will also be held in private, will be 28 January 2014.
Mikaeel was reported missing last Thursday morning and his body was found at an address in Kirkcaldy believed to be the former family home. Following the report of the three year-old’s disappearance, a massive search swung into action involving Police Scotland and other agencies who were joined by hundreds of local people. On hearing the news of the discovery of a boy’s body early on Saturday morning, the community came together at a service at a local church.
Many tributes have now been laid near to the family home in Ferry Gait Crescent.
