New Gallery Trainees have produced incredible artwork for ‘Winter Exhibition’ at the Gallery on the Corner!

Previewing today  is the first set of artwork from the brand new trainees at the Gallery on the Corner, and this exciting exhibition will run until Saturday 25th January 2014.

The Gallery on the Corner is an inspiring commercial gallery and studio in the heart of Edinburgh’s gallery district. The gallery represents and supports artists with a physical or mental health condition, or from a disadvantaged background. The gallery also offers employment and training opportunities for adults with autism.

The commercial gallery and studio can both be hired for events. It also runs creative team workshop days. The gallery offers artwork services in which exhibitions of trainee paintings and prints can be organised to brighten up your business premises, as well the long-term hire of artwork.

The gallery runs Autism friendly creative workshops as well as work placements, offering an alternative to traditional support.

‘Winter Exhibition’ is the debut show by the gallery’s five new creative trainees. The exhibition heralds the arrival of the group who have created a collection of paintings and prints as part of their traineeship. The show introduces each trainee to the commercial art world and is a significant milestone in the early stages of their career. All art work is on sale and the exhibition will run throughout December and January.

Susie Anderson, Gallery Manager, said, “We cannot wait for the general public to see the fantastic artwork that the trainees have produced! They have worked hard and the pieces they have created are of a high standard”.

One of the new creative trainees Otis Berry said, “Through my traineeship I hope to reach out to a wider commercial audience and to establish myself as a respected member of the art industry”.
