retrieveimage Police Scotland is seeking the assistance of the media and the public to help trace a missing man from Clydebank. John Barrett (47) was last seen between 1500 and 1600 hours on Thursday 10 October 2013 when he was in Kilbowie Road with a friend, near to Cleddans Bar.  His friend entered a shop and on his return John had left the area.  He hasn’t been seen or heard from since. He was reported missing to the police on Tuesday 15 October 2013. John is described as around 5ft 10 – 6 ft tall, with short dark hair which is slightly greying.  When last seen, he was wearing a blue coloured camouflage jacket, black jeans and black shoes.  He was also wearing a black and white striped scarf. His family and friends have grown increasingly concerned for him as he usually meets up with his friends at least 2-3 times a week. Extensive enquiries have been carried out and there is a possibility that he may have travelled to the Edinburgh area, however no sightings have been confirmed. Inspector Donald Leitch said: “It’s unusual for John not to be in touch with his family and friends and they are very worried about him.  We are carrying out extensive enquiries to try and locate John, including enquiries in Edinburgh and I would urge anyone who may have seen John or who has any knowledge of his whereabouts to get in touch with us. Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Clydebank Police Office on the police non-emergency number, 101. Note the photograph was taken in 1999

John graduated from Telford College in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism and since then he worked for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review and The Edinburgh Reporter. In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
